About

Dedicated to the men and women whose labors in Long Beach produce the finest aircraft in the world.

Wilexa.com was created by Boeing (formerly McDonnell Douglas) engineers to share the events and images as major portions of the old Douglas Aircraft plant in Long Beach are razed in preparation for new non-aviation use. While we understand that times change, it is with more than a bit of nostalgia that we record the transition.

This web site is intended mainly for those who can't personally witness the day-to-day activities of the remediation and construction crews. Please share it with any retirees, former teammates, and anyone with an interest in the transition.

Wilexa.com is an "unofficial" historian. That is to say, we are interested in what happens to the old DAC plant, but have no special connections with Boeing Realty, Sevenson, the City of Long Beach, or any other party involved in the work. This site is in no way under any auspices of The Boeing Company.

Finally, this archive would be meaningless without you. Please tell us what you like or don't like, what would make it better, more useful, and more entertaining. And most of all, if you have a story or a photo that you would like to share, please send it in.
